Improvements to Broadband



Description:

To develop improved broadband services on Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre.

What has happened so far:
  • December 2010: The Trust was awarded £9,500 by the LEADER Broadband Challenge Fund, on 17 December 2010, for this project.
  • March 2012: The Trust recruited a 'Broadband Trainer', Karen Taylor, on a self-employed basis, to provide computer training, when requested, over the following 2-month period.

What happens next:
  • A FREE Wi-Fi network, on a "high speed broadband connection", will be established at each Community Hall on Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre.

What will happen:
  • The funding provides for one year's phone and broadband fees.
  • Each Community Hall will contain a laptop and printer.
