'Spirit of Adventure' cruise liner
Rousay welcomes the Spirit of Adventure
Rousay played host to hundreds of visitors yesterday, Friday, as the island welcomed passengers who were on board the 'Spirit of Adventure'.
The cruise liner, with a capacity of 348, anchored at 7am on the day, which gave its passengers the chance to experience our unique island, and visit some of the
archaeological sites.
RNLI volunteers provided food on the day, while souvenir items were available to purchase in the Craft Shop, and displays of local arts and crafts were shown in the Heritage Centre.
Before its arrival in Rousay, severe weather conditions had prevented the liner's planned visits to the islands of Eigg and St. Kilda, as it instead made a diversion to Tobermory on
the Isle of Mull.
The liner departed the island for Lerwick, Shetland, in the early evening. It is due to visit the small island of Foula tomorrow, before returning to Orkney, with a trip to Kirkwall,
on Monday.
