Rousay's next in line for hard ramp repairs
Repairs to the hard ramp at Rousay Ferry Terminal are due to start this autumn.
Work on the ramps at Tingwall, Wyre, and, most recently, Egilsay, was all started this year,
with Rousay now to follow suit.
With the ramps at all four sites each originally constructed in the late 1980s, their
'working life' is to be extended by another 30 years.
A temporary ramp will be built, however, during periods of low tide, the M.V. Eynhallow will
be unable to berth on the temporary ramp, leading to 'Passenger Only' services on those
sailings.
With work due to begin on the construction of the temporary ramp on 27 September, it
is anticipated that the repair process will be completed by 24 December 2010.
A timetable of possible affected sailings is provided further below.
Please note that adverse weather conditions could disrupt additional sailings to those
listed.
