Fairer Scotland to help fund six ferry hires

The Fairer Scotland Fund has allocated £2,400 to the Rousay, Egilsay, Wyre and Gairsay Community Council for hires of the M.V. Eynhallow.

The money can be used towards the cost of six ferry hires, for various community events, such as late night ferries for dances on the islands.

The Fairer Scotland Fund consists of £435 million, to be allocated to Community Planning Partnerships over the three years, 2008-2011. The Fund aims to help "achieve sustainable economic growth", by focusing on the following points: Regenerating disadvantaged communities; Tackling poverty by helping vunerable people and groups; and Overcoming barriers to employment.
