Development Trust advertises two more jobs

Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Development Trust has advertised two more vacancies this week, as it seeks a 'High-Level Administration and Finance Support Officer' and 'Community Development Officer'.

The newly-created Adminstration and Finance position consists of 17.5 hours per week, on a £12,000 per annum salary.

Duties of the postholder, will include:

  • Ensuring the provision, on time, of accurate financial reports to enable the board to monitor performance
  • Implementing and maintaining financial management systems
  • Managing relationships with members, the community, stakeholders, external agencies and funding bodies
  • Providing advice on governance
  • Providing guidance to the board in the implementation of PQASSO


  • Applicants for the Administration and Finance post should meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to work to deadlines and with minimum supervision
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer literate
  • Enthusiasm
  • Excellent communication, organisational and team-working skills
  • Experience in financial management and business administration
  • Flexibility
  • Understanding of, and interest in, community development


  • The post of Community Development Officer is also being advertised, for 17.5 hours per week, and with a salary of around £12,000 per annum.

    The successful applicant will undertake the following duties:

  • Work with the local community to implement the local Development Plan
  • Work to secure funding in order to progress projects
  • Develop new community projects which will help to secure the sustainability of the islands
  • Liaising with members, the community, stakeholders, external agencies and funding bodies


  • Suitable applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to work to deadlines and with minimum supervision
  • Computer literate
  • Enthusiasm
  • Excellent communication, organisational and team-working skills
  • Flexible approach
  • Understanding of, and strong interest in, community development


  • Both of the posts are fixed-term, until 30 September 2013.

    The closing date for both positions is Monday, 19 September, 5pm.

    The Development Trust has contributed greatly to local employment opportunities; most recently, the Trust advertised for two part-time 'Turbine Responders' for the newly-installed 900kW Community Wind Turbine, which will soon start generating electricity, to raise a projected £2.7 million Community Trust Fund over the next 20 years. The positions are expected to be filled soon, with applications due by yesterday, Wednesday.
