Show and Knockout to be held on same day

It's a Knockout returns this year, to be held on the same day as the Rousay Horticultural Society's Annual Show; Saturday 1 August.

The Show opens to the public at 2pm, with entries accepted the previous evening - if you're interested in entering, schedules (50p) are on sale at the Shop and Pier Restaurant.

Tattie-in-a-Bucket growers should take note of the Weigh-In held on the day, to see whether they can beat last year's heaviest crop - Chris Cox's 7lb 7oz. The heaviest tattie overall weighed in at an impressive 1lb!

This year's show marks the beginning of Egilsay and Wyre's inclusion in the District Shield, due in particular to Egilsay's high points total at last year's show.

After the prize-giving, scheduled at 4pm, focus will soon turn to the return of It's a Knockout. The Charity event, hosted on Westness Farm Football Pitch by the Rousay Firefighters, kicks off at 7pm.

Teams of up to 6, with a minimum of 3 adults per team, must be submitted to a firefighter at least 48 hours before it all gets underway. Entrance is free, although donations will be gratefully received.

A Barn Dance follows the action, with a late boat to Egilsay and Wyre, departing Rousay at 1.30am.
